Biography
Originally from Chicago, Jef now resides in Southern Illinois with his wife Candi and their big black lab, Beefcake. He moved there about 15 years ago and built a house and then studio and office space for Jef Caudle Studio. He is privately trained and has been involved in art in some form or another for as long as he can remember. Whether it’s music, computer graphics, auto racing, original paintings or design work, it seems he always has a project or two on the drawing board. His latest interest is photography which helps him to better visualize the concepts of his imagination before he puts the brush to canvas.
Jef started out primarily as a motorsport artist, with beautiful color rich depictions of speed and horsepower. Limited edition prints soon followed and sold out, as well as book covers and magazine articles. Then his talent transferred over to the actual cars themselves, designing paint schemes, helmets and even team uniforms One of his paintings even made a brief appearance in the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds” starring Nicolas Cage. He currently has work hanging in the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) Drag Racing Museum in Pomona, California and the Don Garlits Drag Racing Hall of Fame Museum in Ocala, Florida.
It was sometime around late 1999 that his interests started to shift towards Pinup and Fantasy art. “I have always been inspired by the great masters of Fantasy art and the Pinup genre in particular, I just never got around to giving it a try. Now that I have, I find it hard to finish a painting because I can’t wait to get started on my next idea”. Although new to the Pinup and Fantasy realm, he is already making quite a name for himself in this highly creative and imaginative field.
